POTSDAM – A meet the artists event will open an exhibit featuring award winning artwork by local 7-12 students opens at the SLC Arts Gallery in the town hall, 18 Elm St., Friday, March 10, from 5-7 p.m.
The exhibit, featuring works displayed at the recent Scholastic Art Awards of Central New York Regional Art Show in Syracuse, was organized by SLC Arts in partnership with the North Country Art Teachers’ Association (NCATA), and will be on display at the town hall until April 14.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are an annual, national competition; local students from St. Lawrence County compete as part of the Central New York Art Region in Syracuse.
Visual art award winners from St. Lawrence County this year include middle and high school students from Harrisville, Massena, Norwood-Norfolk, Parishville-Hopkinton, and Potsdam.
The exhibit and opening are free and open to the public, and wheelchair accessible.
The gallery is open during town hall business hours, Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
