CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association, 3 E. Main St., is collaborating with the New York Council for Humanities to offer "Votes for Women," a reading and discussion series that will meet on six Saturdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. beginning on Sept. 10 and continuing through Dec. 17.
Participants will discuss a variety of thematically linked texts with Dr. Melissane Parm Schrems, associate professor of history and coordinator of Native American studies at St. Lawrence University.
Readings include both fiction and non-fiction works and participants will explore the history of the women's suffrage movement on a state and national level while discussing the past, present and future of women and society.
The series is free. For more information contact Bryan Thompson, at 347-2178.
