MASSENA -- St. John’s church will serve free Lenten lunches Wednesdays from Feb. 17 to March 16.
There will be an ecumenical service at noon, with the meal following around 12:30 p.m.
A different local cleric will lead each service.
Offerings will be accepted.
Menu:
Feb. 17 -- Spanish rice and tossed salad, prepared by St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Feb. 24 -- Macaroni and cheese with tossed salad, prepared by Sacred Heart, St. Mary’s, and St. Josephs churches.
March 2 -- Goulash and Caesar salad, prepared by Emmanuel Congregational Church.
March 9 -- Chicken and veggie casserole with cole slaw, prepared by Grace Methodist Church and the Salvation Army
March 16 -- TBA, prepared by the First United Methodist and New Testament churches.
Each meal will come with coffee or tea and pie or cake.
Worship service and lunch will be cancelled in the event of bad weather. It will be announced with school cancellation notices.
The Greater Massena Ministerial Association sponsors the events.
