'SpiritFest' Saturday in Potsdam's Ives Park with crafters, vendors, music, palm readings, more

POTSDAM -- The fourth annual SpiritFest will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in Ives Park.

The event, set up alongside the Raquette River, is free and open to the North Country community and will feature healing Reiki treatments, free mini card, pendulum or palm readings, vendors and various musical acts and workshops in the park gazebo.

Four years ago, friends Sabrina Benjamin-Myers and Ryan Meashaw, had an idea to bring the Reiki healing arts to the North Country community. Committed to offering free community service to be enjoyed by all, the event has grown each year, drawing more and more participants and attendees.

This year, in it's 4th incarnation, the SpiritFest is set to be the biggest yet with even more Reiki practitioners offering free mini-sessions (including some traveling from downstate just to take part in the event), card readers, yoga information and demonstrations, musical performances and various handmade and metaphysical vendors.

Highlights of this year's SpiritFest include Trillium Wellness Center information table, electronic music performances by Jerod Sommerfeldt and friends, live painting by Denessa Statler Wilson, chakra yoga demonstration by Kathy Wilcox; Reiki by various practitioners such as Sabrina Benjamin-Myers, Tammy Dishaw, Kaylie Deshane, Amy D'Angelo and Richard Baker; pendulum readings with Caitlin Wilson; palm readings with Angela Dunsin; multiple vendors selling jewelry, handmade gifts, crystals and locally-roasted coffee.

Special help and cooperation will be provided by the SUNY Potsdam Metaphysical Studies Organization.
