WADDINGTON -- The 15th Waddington Sons of the American Legion Ice Fishing Derby will run from sunrise to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 with $2,000 in cash prizes, door prizes and free drawings.
The entry fee is $25 person, with anglers under 16 fishing for free. Kids will be in a separate bracket and will all receive prizes.
People can register in advance at the Sons of the American Legion in Waddington, the Louisville Mini-Mart, Uppstrom’s Bait and Tackle in Madrid, and on Derby Day, at the weigh-in station at Coles Creek Marina.
Prizes, based on 100 entries, will be $500 for first place, $200 for second, $100 for third, $75 for fourth, $50 for fifth, sixth and seventh, and $25 for eighth, ninth and tenth places, all based on total weight. There are also $50 prizes to paid registrants who land the heaviest perch and walleye.
People can fish from Iroquois Dam to Cols Creek Marina.
The awards ceremony will be at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post 420, on Fenton Street.
