CANTON — St. Lawrence University will host alumna Jennifer Grygiel ’01, assistant professor of communications at Syracuse University, who will deliver a seminar on how social media can be used for advocacy and activist work at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in the Sykes Common Room.
Grygiel’s visit is sponsored on behalf of "Building Skills for Advocacy & Activism," a year-long series supported by a St. Lawrence University Innovation Grant, as well as the Department of Global Studies, The Weave News and the Office of Career Services.
Her presentation, titled, “Digital Citizenship: Social Disruption for Social Good,” will address how individuals utilize social media techniques in order to draw attention to social causes. She also will discuss issues around privacy, policy and best practice.
The event is free and open to the public.
