RENSSELAER FALLS – The Indian Creek Nature Center has two snowshoe outings planned, a winter trek Dec. 18 and tracking animal prints on Jan. 8.

Ann Spencer will lead an easy snowshoe ramble at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. They will check for tracks and birds, and then have s’mores by the fire. They suggest bringing extra mittens for the kids. Call Ann at 379-1383 for more details.

Peter O’Shea leads a group tracking animal prints and observing winter ecology at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8. They will see what animals they can find that spend the winter at the Nature Center. The center has snowshoes to lend for this outing. More info: O’Shea at 848-2178.

The center has two entrances on County Rt. 14, which connects State Rt. 68 to Rennselaer Falls. County Rt. 14 leaves State Rt. 68 about six miles outside the village of Canton in the direction of Ogdensburg. From 68 proceed 2.9 miles down CR14. The East entrance will be on your left across from a red barn. This entrance will allow you to access the Wildflower Loop and Upland trails. On the left about half a mile further down CR14, will be the main entrance to Indian Creek Nature Center. This entrance will allow you to access the Boardwalk-Observation Deck trail, which is fully handicapped accessible, the Lowland trail, the Observation Tower trail, and the western end of the Upland trail. At the end of this entrance road is a parking area.
