POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence County Arts Council's is offering dance classes for ages 10 to 17 in Clarkson University’s downtown Snell Hall starting July 21 and 22.

Devon Butler, a professional actress who divides her time between New York City and Hannawa Falls, is the instructor. To register, call the arts council at 265-6860.

The classes:

• Beginner Tap for ages 10-17, Wednesdays, 3:30 - 4:25 p.m.; basic tap steps and work on a routine; $48 for six weeks.

• Jazz Dance for ages 10-17, Wednesdays, 4:30 - 5:25 p.m.; covering fundamentals of jazz dance movement and learning jazz combinations and routines appropriate for the skill levels of the students; $48 for six weeks.

• Lyrical Dance for ages 10-17, Thursdays, 3:30 - 4:25 p.m.; Learn to express a song through movement; $48 for six weeks.

• Musical Theatre Dance for ages 10-17, Thursdays from 4:30 - 5:50 p.m.; students will increase understanding of movement for the stage, how dance tells a story and important fundamental theatre techniques for dance; $60 for six weeks.
