Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - 2:25 pm

Community members, organizations, and individual artists are invited to attend a free workshop to learn how to apply for a Community Arts Grant of up to $5,000 to support arts and cultural projects in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.

The St. Lawrence County Arts Council offers free workshops to provide information and guidelines necessary to apply for a Community Arts Grant.

Project proposals can be for public arts events and activities in any discipline – including music, theatre, dance, visual arts or literary arts.

Individuals, organizations, and municipalities may apply for these grants.

The Community Arts Grants program is administered by the SLC Arts Council, to distribute re-grant funds provided by the New York State Council on the Arts--Decentralization Grant Program.

The application deadline for projects in 2011 is October 1st, 2010. If you plan to apply, you must attend a workshop in 2010, even if you have come to a workshop in the past. Participants should register in advance by calling 265-6860 or using the “contact us” link at
