POTSDAM – Ready to learn something new, but need the support of an experienced teacher to develop your hidden talents? Check out these classes at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
All classes are held at Downtown Snell Hall in Potsdam. Contact the SLC Arts Council to register and pre-pay for classes at 265-6860 or www.slcartscouncil.org.
• Level 1 Drawing Techniques with Krysta Peterson - Thursdays, Sept. 15, 22, 29, 7-8:30 p.m. The class will highlight the importance of using an artist's sketchbook to practice drawing skills. Students will start with basic techniques, work with still lifes, and figure drawings focusing on value and composition. They will work with Compressed and Vine Charcoal, sketch book and eraser. $45 for 3 weeks + bring charcoal sticks, pencils, erasers, and an 8.5"x11" or larger sketchbook.
• Free Your Voice: Singing for Non-Singers with Lonel Woods - Saturdays, Sept. 24-Nov. 5 (no class: Oct. 8) from 9-10:30 a.m. For adults. Are you a closet singer? Have you been told you shouldn't sing in public? Discover your voice in a safe environment where all are encouraged to explore, enjoy and express themselves in song. Music will include folksongs, call and response, and more. No need to read music. $60 for 6 weeks.
