POTSDAM -- There is still time to sign up for SUNY Potsdam summer Nike basketball and volleyball camps.

The men's and women's basketball programs will host the 47th Annual Summer Basketball Camp from July 16-19.

The volleyball team will host its Nike Volleyball Clinic from July 23-26.

Bears men's and women's coaches Jim Bechtel and Brittany Cohen will lead the 47th annual summer basketball camp with Hall of Fame coach and camp founder Jerry Welsh on hand once again.

Each summer, close to 300 players from the U.S. and Canada learn skills and fundamentals through individual and group instruction from a staff of top college and high school coaches. The staff has earned a reputation for being one of the finest in the nation. The complete "team" concept is emphasized to all campers.

The camp welcomes commuters as well as overnight campers. Campers staying overnight are housed in SUNY Potsdam's residence halls and are closely supervised at all times. Meals are served in the Lehman Dining Hall three times daily to overnight campers. Commuters are also offered a meal each day at noon.

Campers can register online at http://www.ussportscamps.com/basketball/nike/suny-potsdam-summer-basketball-camp/. To receive more information about the Summer Basketball Camp, contact Coach Bechtel at 315/267-2308 or Coach Cohen at 315/267-3708.

The Nike Volleyball Clinic is open to girls ages 10-18 of all ability levels, individually or as teams. At SUNY Potsdam, participants master the volleyball fundamentals, develop proper mechanics, and gain valuable game play experience. Bears Coach Josh Stokes and his staff create an outstanding environment for campers to improve and have fun. Each day consists of individual training, position specific drills, small-sided games and full scrimmages.

SUNY Potsdam offers residential, dining and training facilities. The coach-to-camper ratio is 1:10 and the players are grouped by age and ability level. At the conclusion of the camp, players will receive a completion certificate and a Nike Volleyball t-shirt.

The cost for campers staying overnight is $480 and for those attending the extended day, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the cost is $380. For overnight campers, dormitory housing and all meals are included. For extended day campers, lunch and dinner are provided. For more information and to register online go to http://www.ussportscamps.com/volleyball/nike/nike-volleyball-camp-suny-potsdam/.
