POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park St., will host a new reading and discussion series called “The Serious Side of Food” on the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the village community room.
The event is co-hosted with GardenShare and made possible by a Humanities NY grant, along with support from the Potsdam Food Co-op.
The library will work with Maggie Smith, GardenShare program coordinator, to read books about current and past businesses of food and discuss the local food economy.
Scheduled reads and discussions are “The Jungle” by Upton Sinclair on March 8, “The Road to Wellville by SUNY Potsdam alum T.C. Boyle on April 12, “The Third Plate” by Dan Barber on May 10, and “In Defense of Food” by Michael Pollan on June 14.
All of the books are available at the library.
Discussions will be held in the community room at 7 p.m.
