POTSDAM -- “Scenes Which Appealed to Me” opens Friday, February 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the SLC Arts Gallery in the Potsdam Town Hall, 18 Elm St.
This solo exhibit features oil paintings and drawings by Eric Thacher of Potsdam.
Thacher began his art career in 1966 while serving as a naval officer. Afterward, he completed still life and figure painting classes in San Diego, Calif. The works shown in this exhibit are oil paintings inspired by the abstract distribution of shapes and colors in a scene.
"This medium is relatively forgiving compared to quick-drying mediums such as watercolor,” Thatcher said.
To help celebrate the opening of this exhibit, guest musicians The Rustic Riders will perform acoustic folk music starting at 4:30 p.m. Lisa and Klaus Meissner of Tupper Lake will play some of their traditional favorites, as well as music from their newest album, "Wake Up!"
Thacher's paintings will be on display through March 25.
The exhibit, opening, and musical performance are free and open to the public, and wheelchair accessible.
The Gallery is open during Town Hall business hours, Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
