MASSENA -- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will visit Alcoa Massena Operations Friday to share a proposal she says would "bolster high-tech manufacturing" in the North Country and across the state.
Gillibrand will be at the plant at 12:45 p.m.
Gillibrand said her proposal would help regions design strategies to close "America's skill gap" and boost "advanced manufacturing sectors."
The bill would create a federal funding competition to encourage public and private partnerships to develop strategies to spur growth-manufacturing industries. The bill is aimed at the fields of clean-tech and high-tech manufacturing and would focus on training workers with the skills that businesses need.
