CANTON -- St. Lawrence University’s Stafford Fitness Center will offer self-defense, martial arts, and core fitness energy lessons throughout the 2014-15 school year.
A free demonstration and seminar will be held Sept. 1, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m., to initiate programs. Personal and family safety techniques will be discussed and practiced. American Kang Duk Won Karate and self-defense lessons offer a wide range of skills in traditional martial arts training and risk avoidance methods.
The SLU fitness center holds traditional martial arts lessons (Karate, Tae Kwon Do) on Monday evenings from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Participation is open to anyone 14 years of ago or older. Additional workouts are available in Canton Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Starting this semester, an all new course will be presented aimed at developing core fitness and inner energy. Workouts are on Fridays from 7 to 8 a.m. at St. Lawrence University’s Stafford Fitness Center. The six-week course will begin with an introductory workout Sept. 5.
