POTSDAM -- “Say Cheese Please! Second Thursday Sampling” at the Potsdam Food Co-op, 24 Elm St., will be held Sept. 10 from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. with its September Cheese of the Month havarti with dill.
This is a semi-soft, interior ripened, and rindless cheese made from cow's milk and infused with dill. Although Havarti cheese originated in Denmark, many varieties are now made in the US in the traditional Scandinavian manner.
Havarti-Dill blends the rich buttery taste of the Havarti with the tangy taste of dill for a truly unique flavor experience.
Add Havarti-Dill to a cheese board with walnuts and pears, mix it into scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, or use it in mac & cheese and quiché recipes.
Try it in grilled cheese, a Reuben, corned beef, or pastrami sandwiches, in paninis, or as a topping for a burger. Wrap it in puff pastry and bake until golden brown and serve with Bordeaux or a similar red wine.
