POTSDAM -- The second annual Potsdam LGBT Pride Parade, is set for Saturday, April 11 where groups from campus and community will join together for to celebrate diversity and equality.
Parade registration will open at 1 p.m., and the kickoff will be at 2 p.m. The parade will begin in the Main Street public parking lot near Ives Park and continue down Pierrepont Avenue to SUNY Potsdam.
This year's grand marshall for the parade will be SUNY Potsdam President Kristin G. Esterberg. She will be recognized along with her family,- including her spouse Sue Bergmeier, and their daughters, Katie and Qiong Qiong. Last year's grand marshal, Miss Gay St. Lawrence County, Amber Skyy, will take part in the parade once again.
Immediately following the parade, the college will host the first-ever Gay Pride Family Reunion in the Maxcy Hall Field House.
Students in Dr. John Youngblood's "LGBT Family Communications" course in the Department of English and Communication are organizing all aspects of this event.
The parade and reunion are free and open to all.
