Seaway Valley Venom semi-pro football squad has more games set for Rochester, Massena, Carthage, Glens Falls

MASSENA -- The Empire Football League will continue featuring the Seaway Valley Venom and the Glens Falls Greenjackets for the 2017 season.

The Venom and Greenjackets will face each other twice during the regular season and then in the Empire Football League Championship at a date to be determined. This would be the first time that a St. Lawrence County semi-pro football team will play in an Empire Football League championship.

Two other games have been added.

The Venom are so far scheduled to play four games this season:

• July 22, at Westside Spartans, Rochester, 5 p.m.

• Aug. 5 vs. Glens Falls Greenjackets, Massena HS, 7 p.m.

• Aug. 12 at Carthage Revolution, Carthage, 7 p.m.

• Sept. 16 at Glens Falls Greenjackets , Glens Falls, 7 p.m.

The Venom say they are still in the process of scheduling more games for August and September.

"This year has been an interesting one to say the least but I can say that the guys are excited about the opportunity to play for the title at the end of the season,” said Venoms team owner Elijah Winfrey. “To be the first team in St. Lawrence County to have that opportunity is really special and I would ask that everyone from the North Country rally behind these guys. We have a chance to bring home a piece of history," Winfrey said.

The Aug. 5 game against Glens Falls in Massena will be s Breast Cancer Awareness Night. BD Entertainment will be on hand. weather permitting, with inflatables in the "Kid Zone." The Lady Vipers Dance Team will perform for the first time, The Venom's new mobile concession stand known as "TJs 50 -d. line" will be selling burgers, fries and more. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a raffle for a bike with accessories.
