POTSDAM -- In the Scrap Heap Challenge Dec. 6, kids will learn about the famous Rube Goldberg machines, inventions designed to perform simple tasks in an over-the-top silly way.
The event will be held at the Clarkson Bookstore, 39 Market St. from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Participants will tap into their creativity and use every-day items to build an innovative machine to accomplish a goal using a chain of actions.
The program is taught by Dr. Katie Fowler, professor of mathematics at Clarkson.
