OGDENSBURG -- The final Saturday Afternoon with Frederic Remington event will be Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m., at the Remington Museum, 303 Washington St.

The public is invited to spend the afternoon enjoying the work of Frederic Remington and hearing about his fascinating life.

Docents will be on hand to talk with visitors.

Frederic Remington, famous for his depiction of the West: cowboys, the military and Indians, was born in Canton in 1861 and spent part of his youth in Ogdensburg.

He never forgot his roots and returned to the North Country regularly. The museum features a large collection of northern landscapes that reflect his love of our region.

Besides Remington's art, the museum houses various personal and studio effects, such as his easel, paints, photographs and even his wife Eva’s diamond ring and the cigars that were in his pocket when he died.

Also on view is the 34th Annual Elementary Art Exhibit in the Richard E. Winter Gallery, and an exhibit of recently donated paintings by the late Ruth E. Claxton in the Torrey Family Gallery.

Refreshments will be served.
