CANTON -- Santa Claus is coming to Canton's Village Green the night after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 24, at 6 p.m.

Santa will arrive in Monica Stone’s sleigh carriage pulled by black Percheron workhorses led up Main Street by Canton Police Chief Mike Santimaw. Canton Volunteer Fire Department members will light Santa's way with tiki torches up to his platform from the sleigh.

Diane Foote will lead everyone in carol signing, while Santa and Canton Mayor Mike Dalton turn on the lights for the Crowell Memorial Tree and the War Veterans Memorial Tree.

Main Street's signature white lights on the trees and the red-ribboned wreaths hanging from all the lamp posts on both sides of the street will be turned on during the event.

Frosty the Snowman and his friends Rudolph, Honey Bear and Spot The Fire Dog will be on hand to pose for photos with the children.

At the close of Santa’s visit, children and their families are encouraged to climb aboard the sleigh for a ride around the village.

All are encouraged to dress warmly and bring a flashlight.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be served in the First Presbyterian Church across the street from Santa's platform.

The Holiday of Lights celebration is funded by the sale of $2 red-ribboned white memory nametags for the Crowell Tree and donations from businesses and individuals.
