POTSDAM – The Potsdam Food Co-op, 24 Elm St., will host Jaunita’s First Thursday Creation on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. with faro. Farro, a grain originating in the Fertile Crescent, was found in ancient Egyptian tombs and also was known to have fed Roman legions during their conquests.
Used in Italy for centuries now, farro comes in three types, with emmer being the most common. Farro also comes in three forms: whole (contains all the grain's nutrients), semi-pearled (contains some fiber but has some bran removed), and pearled (requires the least amount of cooking but has no bran).
Farro is low fat, low gluten, no cholesterol, and sodium-free. Info: 265-4630
