RUSSELL -- The Russell Theater will present Alex Smith with Tom Akstens on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.
“Alex is a wonderful poetic writer who captures words full of meaning,
matching them wit and creative music that creeps quietly into the past at
the same time as dancing with the present and sneaking a peek at the
future,” a statement from the Russell Theater reads.
Since his debut album for Takoma Records in 1976, Akstens has been highly regarded on the American roots music scene, according to the theater.
The Burlington Free press has praised his “impeccable musicianship.” Sarah Craig of Caffe Lena has called him a “master of his craft.” His new album, “FLOW: Water, Music, Time,” will be available this summer.
Admission is by donation to support the artists and to help with restoration efforts.
There will be light refreshments and a 50/50.
Located in the Russell Town Hall, the theater has a series of concerts and productions throughout the summer and fall.
