Rubio Duo, flute and guitar, to perform Saturday at Potsdam United Methodist Church

POTSDAM -- The Rubio Duo will perform Saturday, March 24, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Potsdam United Methodist Church 26 Main St. The show is the last performance of the Cabin Fever Concert Series organized by What a Raquette Music and Dance, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works to foster the cultural community of music and dance in the North Country.

Since 1983, The Rubio Duo has been performing crowd-pleasing music for flute and classical guitar. Their innovative concert programs feature both the traditional and the new, with a special emphasis on music from the Americas. Jill and Douglas first began playing together when they were students at the University of Southern California. Since then, they have gone on to perform throughout the United States.

Ms. Rubio is Adjunct Professor of Flute at The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, and Potsdam Central School’s high school and middle school band director. Douglas Rubio is Professor of Classical Guitar at the State University of New York at Potsdam. He has performed as a soloist at music festivals, universities, guitar societies, and concert series throughout the United States.

The concert is free, family-friendly and open to the public. There will be a bucket passed for donations.
