POTSDAM – William Cuthbert, a senior member of Potsdam's ministerial community, and Maureen Farina, a community service leader, are to be honored at the Rotary Club of Potsdam’s annual dinner Wednesday, June 25 at Jake’s on the Water in Hannawa Falls.
Cuthbert is to receive the Service Above Self Award and Farina will be given the Paul Harris Award.
Cuthbert, a retired Baptist minister, is being honored for his outstanding contributions to the Potsdam community. He has served on numerous community boards, including Sunmount, TRIAD, Mayfield, Rotary, Dodge Pond and the Potsdam Neighborhood Center. He is a past Rotary president and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Farina will be honored for her demonstrated commitment to the goals and purposes of Rotary and "in appreciation of her tangible assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world." Farina is a past president and board member of Potsdam Rotary. She has served as chair of the Duck Pluck fundraiser and worked on the wheelchair challenge, scholarship golf tournament, Rotary Foundation, grant writing, and Dodge Pond projects. She also serves on the board of the Potsdam Holiday Fund.
Christa Carroll will be installed as 2014-2015 president at the event, and Amy Flack will be honored as outgoing president.
All Rotarians and past Rotarians, members of the community, and family, friends and colleagues of the honorees are invited to attend the dinner and presentations.
A social hour with a cash bar starts at 5 p.m. Dinner, with a main course choice of chicken Marsala, grilled pork tenderloin or broccoli Alfredo, will be served at 6 p.m.
Advance-sale tickets are available for $30 per person. Checks can be made out to “Potsdam Rotary” and sent to Potsdam Rotary, PO Box 912, Potsdam, NY 13676. All reservations noting entrée choice, must be received by Wednesday, June 11. Christa Carroll, 267-2434, can answer questions.
