GOUVERNEUR -- The Riverside Brass Quintet will present a concert Sunday July 17 at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.

The program will consist of a variety of styles ranging from the early music of Samuel Scheidt and Johann Pezel to the modern sounds of George Gershwin and John O'Reilly.

The performance is free to the public. Donations given will benefit window restoration at the church.

The quintet, formed in 2009, is made up of highly experienced North Country brass players, each with a connection to Potsdam's Crane School of Music.

Roy Schaberg; French horn, trumpeter John Schorge, and tubist Pete Popiel are retired Crane brass faculty. Trombonist Peter McCoy is currently Music Education chairman at Crane, and trumpeter Paul Buell teaches instrumental and high school choral music at Sackets Harbor Central School, and is a Crane graduate.

The group performs annually throughout the North Country.
