POTSDAM -- Works by artist and Clarkson University Professor Emeritus Eric Thacher are the focus of the new exhibit at Canton-Potsdam Hospital for the new exhibit featured in the hospital’s Small Dining Room at the main hospital cafeteria.
The show of Thacher’s work opens with a reception from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7. Light refreshments will be available.
The exhibit will be on display through the fall.
Thacher began his art career in 1966 while serving as a naval officer.
He studied on his own time for years, and after achieving emeritus status in 2005 from Clarkson, devoted more time to painting, traveling from New York to Maine to California to learn from talented teachers.
Thacher is a member of the St. Lawrence County Arts Council and has exhibited in its gallery, the North Country Regional Juried Art Show, Gibson Gallery of the State University of New York at Potsdam, the Frederic Remington Art Museum, Ogdensburg, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, and the Creative Spirit Art Center, Potsdam. His favored medium is oils.
The CPH Gallery Program participates in the St. Lawrence County Arts Council’s gallery tours and features SLCAC member artists as a service to the community, visitors, and patients. Featured artwork is available for purchase by contacting the artist directly.
