RENSSELAER FALLS -- The Rensselaer Falls Fire Department is kicking off Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5 to 11, with an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at the fire house on Congress Street.
Fire equipment and fire trucks will be on display, and firefighters will be there to answer questions.
They will have fire prevention goody bags for all the kids and fire prevention information for parents.
Also for kids are a coloring contest for children 12 and under and fire truck rides from 4:30 to 5 p.m.
Seaway Valley Jumpers will be there with their obstacle course.
Popcorn and drinks will be available.
Smoke detectors and 9-volt batteries will be handed out to the first 30 families.
