Remington’s oil painting “Small Oaks” on display in Ogdensburg June 10 - 16

“Small Oaks,” an 1887 oil on canvas by Frederic Remington, is on view in the Albert P. Newell Gallery at the Frederic Remington Art Museum.

OGDENSBURG -- The Frederic Remington Art Museum will celebrate the second annual state museum week June 10 through June 16.

Visitors who complete a survey will be entered in a daily drawing. Winners will be announced Sunday, June 16.

Free “Tours for Tots” for ages three to six will be offered Monday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Hands-on activities are included in the tour. Children will receive a gift at the end of the tour.

Museum tours will be offered Monday through Saturday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The tour includes a movie.

The museum will offer a $2 discount on admission. The gift shop will offer a 15 percent discount. Patrons will also have the chance to win a “Pioneer” membership, which includes membership for two adults and any children under age 18 with free, unlimited access to the museum. The membership also offers discounts at the museum shop and on educational workshops and special programs.

The artwork in the elementary school art contest will be on display until June 16.

The celebration will also include classes at Kid’s Place. Class topics will be: June 10 – desert critters; June 11 – Remington’s rattlesnake; June 12 – Cowboy collages; June 13 – Nocturne painting; and June 14 – Fred’s favorite horse.

The museum will also host a volunteer appreciation reception Thursday, June 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. Anyone interested in becoming an aid or docent may also attend.

School age children who bring a friend to the museum Saturday, June 15 will receive a free reproduction Remington print.
