OGDENSBURG -- Art for the Frederic Remington Art Museum’s 2012 Members’ Juried Art Exhibition has been selected by juror Paul N. Pedersen.
Pedersen selected 42 works for the exhibition, which opens Saturday, May 12, with a public reception 2 to 4 p.m.
Artists are: Marie Adam, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; Judy Andrus Toporcer, Colton; Georgette Bacon, Nicholville; Marion Bradish, Winthrop; John N. Bray, Hermon; John Elwood Cook, Wellesley Island; David Crowell, Canton; Kasarian Dane, Madrid; Betsy Elswit, Ithaca; Shawn L. Halperin, Lake Clear; Pat Harrington, Norwood; Patrick Mason, Stittsville, Ontario, Canada; Suzan McDermott, Canton; Hope Marshall, Watertown; John Morrow, Ogdensburg; Fred Mussler, Saratoga Springs; Susan Peck, Merrickville, Ontario, Canada; Terry Rempel-Mroz, Orleans, Ontario, Canada; Thomas Robarge, Jr., Ogdensburg; R. Paul Saphier, Hammond; Anne Sibley, Colton; Michiko Taylor, Potsdam; and Tim Tiernan, Waddington.
Part of the juror’s job, in addition to narrowing the images submitted to create the exhibition, is to select three artworks to honor with prizes.
Anyone can vote once for their favorite artwork from May 12 until September 10, at the museum or on the website, www.fredericremington.org
At the reception, the award winners will be announced. There will be a Best in Show prize of $100, second prize of $75 and a third place prize of $50. At the end of the exhibition, on September 16th, 2012, a public’s choice award, a framed print on canvas of Remington’s oil painting, The End of the Day, will be awarded.
Many of the works will be for sale. One third of the proceeds benefit the Frederic Remington Art Museum, and two thirds go to the artist. The exhibit will have an online gallery at www.fredericremington.org
