Remembrance Tree orders for Colton and South Colton on sale through Nov. 10

COLTON -- For the fourth year in a row the town’s Tourism and Beautification Committee is taking orders for Remembrance Trees to display in December and January in the hamlets of Colton and South Colton.

The deadline to order and pay for trees is Friday, Nov. 10.

The cost is just $35 per tree, which includes set up for sponsors to decorate the tree plus a power cord run to the location of the tree. Sponsors can select whether they want the tree displayed in the hamlet of Colton or South Colton.

The order form is available on the Town of Colton website (www.townofcolton.com) under “News” to download and print; and it can be picked up in the Colton Town Hall on Main Street or the J.R. Watson Community Center in South Colton.

Ordered trees will be set up after Thanksgiving; and the committee will identify each with a large laminated tag naming those remembered and the sponsors.

LED lights can be added by sponsors in any colors desired. And non-electrical decorations, garland, tinsel and non-glass ornaments also are allowed.

This year the trees will be lighted on Friday, Dec. 8 during the Colton Historical Society’s Annual Winter Lights & Jingle Bells Event, starting at 6 p.m. in Three Falls Park in South Colton and ending on Main Street in Colton.

After the lightings, the names of those remembered will be read during a reception hosted by the Colton Historical Society in the Town Hall.

The town will keep the lights on through Winterfest Weekend on January 25-28, 2018.

Dave Crosby, as project coordinator, can be contacted at 315-212-0674 or dcrosby0674@gmail.com for more information. Updates will be posted on the town’s Facebook page.
