CANTON -- SUNY Canton will host Camp Invention from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with weeklong sessions beginning July 20 and July 27 in the college's Richard W. Miller Campus Center.
During week one, children will build and modify their own freestyle-racing cart. Students will learn about prototypes and how to create a live representation of a video game using found objects. During week two, students will construct their own motorized creatures and explore alternative energy. Hands-on activities will help students study the connection between mathematics, patterns and relationships.
Camp Invention is intended for students entering grades 1 to 6. It offers sessions taught by certified teachers. All sessions use teamwork and subject immersion.
The program is $220 each week per student. Families enrolling two children receive $25 off per child. Families registering three or more children will save $50 per child. Special rates are available for children of SUNY Canton employees.
Parents can register their children online at www.campinvention.org, or by calling 1-800-968-4322. For more information contact April Barnes at abarnes@potsdam.k12.ny.us.
