POTSDAM -- The Community Performance Series continues Sunday, Nov. 11 with Calefax at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Concert Hall, SUNY Potsdam. A pre-concert lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Calefax, established 25 years ago, featuring Oliver Boekhoorn (oboe), Ivar Berix (clarinet), Raaf Hekkema (saxophone), Jelte Althuis (bass clarinet) and Alban Wesly (bassoon), offers a unique twist on the traditional reed quintet.
Unique to their performance, the quintet performs standing up and always introduces themselves and the program to the audience. The five musicians also arrange, recompose and interpret all genres.
The ensemble is Amsterdam-based, and can be heard across the U.S., Europe, Russia, China, India, Turkey, and Japan.
Ticket prices range from $15 to $30 for adults, from $13 to $27 from seniors and faculty or staff, and from $8 to $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased from the Box Office at 267-2277 or at http://www2.potsdam.edu/cps/eventpgs/1213/111112.html.
