Red Cross, Office for Aging offering free emergency preparedness workshops

American Red Cross and St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging will presenting free emergency preparedness information in Brasher Falls, Canton, Potsdam, and DeKalb Junction this month.

Senior citizens and the general public are invited to participate. The presentations by Megan Fulton and April Failing, from SUNY Potsdam Community Health Program, will provide important facts and tips on fire safety and preparation for disasters such as house fires and winter storms.

The workshop are half an hour with a lunch to follow. The suggested donation for lunch for seniors 60 and over is $3, and for guests under 60, $5.

The workshops are:

Feb. 4, Brasher Falls, LBSH Housing, 10:45 a.m. Lunch: meatloaf with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, yellow beans, dinner roll, dessert.

Feb. 14, Canton Housing, 10:45 a.m. Lunch: lemon pepper fish, rice pilaf, squash, muffin, fruit.

Feb. 16, Potsdam, Midtown Apartments, 11:15 a.m. Lunch: Hawaiian ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, pudding parfait.

Feb. 17, DeKalb Junction, Sunrise Valley Apartments, 11:15 a.m. Lunch: pizza, Italian mixed vegetables, warm apple sauce, ambrosia.
