POTSDAM -- “Pumpkin Fest” will be held Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. behind the municipal lot near Ives' Park with live music and free samples of wines and a dish featuring seasonal ingredients fresh from the market.
Kids can enjoy pumpkin stem ring toss for the chance to win prizes.
Volunteer groups from SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University will offer pumpkin crafts, games, candy and healthy Halloween tips.
Visitors can guess the weight of a big pumpkin as well; with the winning guess receiving a gift certificate to the winter market.
Master gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension will have a booth with resources and helpful information for market visitors.
There will be a 5K fun run that starts and ends at the market location. Registration is at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded at 10 a.m.
First place in each age group will win a pumpkin.
