Public meetings in Tupper Lake and Watertown will inform citizens of the Vermont Air National Guard's (VANG) plans for training with the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter over the Adirondacks.
The Guard's 158th Fighter Wing, Burlington, will present information on possible training activities of F-35 aircraft over the Adirondacks at sessions from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16 at the Tupper Lake Train Depot, and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at Case Middle School in Watertown.
The meeting is to provide Adirondack residents information about training activities which could occur over the Adirondacks if the F-35 aircraft is assigned to the 158th.
The United States Air Force is accepting public comment on the F‐35A Operational Basing Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) until June 1. Copies of the DEIS, and Executive Summary of the DEIS and other information regarding the F-35 Aircraft can be obtained at http://www.accplanning.org/.
