POTSDAM -- A “Chine-Colle Monotype Printing Without a Press” class will be held with Veronica Lucas on June 20, 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, 41 Elm St.
The cost is $84 for members and $108 for others. Chine Colle is a technique in printmaking, in which the image is transferred to a surface that is bonded to a heavier support in the printing process.
One purpose is to allow the printmaker to print on a much more delicate surface, such as Japanese paper or linen, which pulls finer details off the plate.
Another purpose is to add elements of color, design and images through the use of decorative and unusual papers.
Attendees will explore using Chine Colle as part of the print, incorporating the added papers on to the plate before printing.
Beginners or advanced levels are welcome, ages 15 and older.
Bring special or decorative papers to incorporate into prints or photographs which have been copied to paper etc.
Bring your ideas, pictures, leaves, string, textured objects, and anything else to incorporate into prints.
Brayers, paper, ink and brushes will be provided.
Two sheets of archival 100% cotton Arches 88 paper will be provided per person.
Additional paper can be purchased for $2 per 11x15 sheet.
Attendees can bring paper if it is suitable for printmaking.
