POTSDAM -- To commemorate International Women's Day, the St. Lawrence County Branch of AAUW will host a free presentation by Betsy Brown, CEO and president of Planned Parenthood of the North Country.
During the presentation, scheduled for March 6, Brown will speak about her experiences working on federally funded family planning service delivery programs. Brown worked on family planning in Latin America and the Caribbean, West and East Africa, and several countries in the former Soviet Union, including Russia.
She began her career as a volunteer family planning/health educator in college on a student hotline. She then served in West Africa with the Peace Corps for two years. For US AID, Brown designed and oversaw family planning and HIV/AIDS and cervical and breast cancer prevention programs.
The talk will take place at the new Potsdam Town Hall, 18 Elm St.
An informal “meet and greet” with light refreshments will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a welcome by AAUW member and Town of Potsdam Supervisor Marie Reagan at 5 p.m.
