CANTON -- The St. Lawrence War of 1812: “The War No One Wanted” will be presented May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Silas Wright House, 3 East Main St.
The event will be led by Victor Suthren, a Canadian writer and historian from Merrickville, Ont.
The program is part of the St. Lawrence County Historical Association’s Commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. St. Lawrence County was one of the battlefields of the War of 1812.
Suthren will discuss how the mutual dislike for the War of 1812 by settlers on both sides of the St. Lawrence River shaped the tumultuous events that took place from 1812 to 1814.
