POTSDAM -- Indian Creek Nature Center will present “Spiders of the North Country” on Wednesday, April 26 at Sergi’s Italian Restaurant, 10 Market St., at 5:30 p.m.
The event will be hosted by Dr. John Barthelme, associate professor of St. Lawrence University.
Barthelme will present an overview of North Country spiders giving special attention to their diversity, ecology, and mating behavior. He promises lots of photos. He will also discuss spider evolution and his travels to collect specimens in Zanzibar, Madagascar, Kenya and Morocco ,as well the effects of dangerous spider bites.
A reception begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar. A buffet-style dinner will include antipasto salads, veggie and meat dishes, as well as sides and dessert. Serving begins at 6 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7 p.m.
