Potsdam's A.A. Kingston to host North County Jr. Iron Chef competition Saturday

POTSDAM -- The North County Jr. Iron Chef competition is slated for Saturday, March 14, at A.A.K. Kingston Middle School, 56 Lawrence Ave.

Teams will sign in and set up from 8:30 until 10:15 a.m. with the official welcoming to follow. Teams will prepare their meals from 10:30 a.m. until noon with team presentations scheduled from 11:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The judges will make their decisions around 1 p.m. with awards to follow.

North Country Jr. Iron Chef is a competition for teams of regional middle and high school age youth to develop healthy recipes using a combination of local and commodity foods that could be realistically prepared in a school cafeteria.

Teams from Potsdam, Canton, Massena, Norwood-Norfolk, Gouverneur, Brasher Falls, Clifton-Fine, Heuvelton, St. Regis Falls Salmon River, Malone, Thousand Island and Lowville will compete in the middle school category.

High school teams from Canton, Massena, Gouverneur, Salmon River, Brushton-Moira, Saranac Lake, Plattsburgh and South Jefferson will compete.
