POTSDAM -- The Rotary Club will honor Dr. G. Michael Maresca and Barbara N. Maresca with the Service Above Self Award, and Debora Moschell and Michael P. Griffin with the Paul Harris Award at its annual dinner on Wednesday, June 30, at the Cheel Campus Center at Clarkson University.
Neal Zirn will also be installed as 2010-2011 president at the event.
The Service Above Self Award is given to non-Rotarians who have made outstanding contributions to the Potsdam Community.
The club will honor the Marescas with the award for their generous and unwavering philanthropic support of numerous charitable organizations in Potsdam and around the North Country.
Moschell and Griffin will be honored as Paul Harris Fellows for their demonstrated commitment to the goals and purposes of Rotary and “in appreciation of their tangible assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.”
Moschell, finance manager at Penski Inc., is the outgoing 2009-2010 president of the Rotary Club of Potsdam. She joined the Potsdam Rotary Club in 2005, and has served on its board for three years.
A native of Star Lake, she graduated from Potsdam Central School and SUNY Canton, and studied accounting at Clarkson University.
She served in the U.S. Navy from 1988-1992 and is a veteran of the first Gulf War.
Moschell resides in Potsdam with her sons, Aaron and James.
This is the second time that the club has honored Griffin with the Paul Harris Award.
Director of news and digital content services at Clarkson University, he joined Rotary in 1986 and is past president and a longtime board member.
A native of Scranton, Pa., he has master’s degrees from Clarkson University and Clarion University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton. Griffin resides in Colton with his wife, Nancy.
All Rotarians, and family, friends and colleagues of the honorees are invited to attend.
A social hour with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar gets underway at 5:30 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by pianist Drew X. Coles.
A buffet dinner will be served at 6:30.
Tickets are available by advance purchase only for $35 per person. Checks can be made out to “Potsdam Rotary” and sent to Potsdam Rotary, PO Box 912, Potsdam, NY 13676. All reservations must be received by Wednesday, June 24.
