Potsdam Public Library hosting book club, book sale, teen intervention talk, computer, children's sessions this month

POTSDAM – The Potsdam Public Library is holding several classes and programs from Nov. 8-15.

An adult book club will meet Wednesday, Nov. 8 from noon-2 p.m. in the library community room. The group will discuss “Hillbilly Elegy” by J.D. Vance. Info: info@potsdamlibrary.org, 315-265-7230.

A fall book sale will be held from Nov. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and a bag sale on Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

A Teen Intervene information session will be held Monday, Nov. 13, from 5-6:30 p.m., in the library community room. The library is partnering with the Seaway Valley Prevention Council (SVPC) to offer Teen Intervene, a confidential program for teens suspected of experiencing mild to moderate problems associated with drug or alcohol use. Emily Uppstrom from SVPC will hold a program in the Potsdam Public Library Community Room for guidance counselors, doctors, parents, teachers, and anyone interested in finding out more about this program and how it can help teens.

The library will offer several tech programs in the Cleveland Computer Center, located in the basement of the Potsdam Public Library. Registration is required for all tech programs listed below by email or phone at bgordon@potsdamlibrary.org or call 315-265-7230.

Introduction to Word will be offered Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.; Google Docs and Google Drive, Monday, Nov. 13, from 3-4:30 p.m.; Give Word Documents a Facelift, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 3-4:30 p.m.; Selling on eBay, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 5:30-7 p.m.; Excel Basics, Wednesday, Nov. 15, 1:30-3:30 p.m.; Literacy & ESL, Improving Skills for New English Speakers, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; ESL Conversation Group Mezzanine, Thursdays, Nov. 9, noon-1 p.m., no registration required, info: mmichalek@potsdamlibrary.org.

The following children’s programs organized by the children’s librarian Rebecca Donnelly are held in the messanine, the upstairs play space at the the back for the library: Curious Cubs Storytime, Wednesday, Nov. 8, starting at 10:30 a.m.; Spanish Storytime, Saturday, Nov. 11; and Little Bees Family Storytime, Saturday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m.-noon, a storytime for families with babies and toddlers. The Drop-in Chess Club will meet on Wednesdays, 5-8 p.m. and the Game Night Group will meet every Thursday, from 5-8 p.m.
