Danny Gotham will give a guitar workshop and performance Aug. 12 in Heuvelton.
HEUVELTON -- Potsdam native Danny Gotham will give a guitar workshop and concert at Pickens Opera House, 83 State St., Saturday, Aug. 12.
Gotham, who now resides in North Carolina, is an award winning guitarist music educator, performer and composer.
Gotham is remembered locally for forming the Racquette River Rounders with John Kribs and Michael Hadfield in 1979.
However, in addition to being a founding member of the Racquette River Rounders, Gotham has played music with many well-known names in acoustic music, including legendary bluegrass band Summit, folk artist and local public radio host Barbara Heller, Tom Paxton and Peter Ostroushko.
In 1980, he took second place at the National Fingerpicking Championship in Winfield, Kansas.
As a guitarist he is as well versed in Mississippi John Hurt fingerpicking blues style as he is playing bluegrass, jazz and rock.
Gotham has more made more than 12 recordings, both solo and with others. All of his albums are available through his website.

The workshop is scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. and the concert is at 7 p.m.
Tickets will be available at door or at www.pickenshall.com. The workshop will cost $10 to attend. The concert will cost $10. The cost to attend both is $15.
