POTSDAM -- The Ministerial Association of Potsdam (MAP) will offer a free showing of “Renewal,” a film that combines religion and environmental activism, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Presbyterian Church, 42 Elm St.

“Renewal” is a feature-length documentary that captures the vitality and diversity of today's religious-environmental activists. From within their Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and Muslim traditions, Americans are re-examining what it means to be human and how we live on this planet.

They tell stories of combating global warming and the devastation of mountaintop removal, of promoting food security, environmental justice, recycling, land preservation, and of teaching love and respect for life on Earth.

The eight stories in “Renewal” are: A Crime Against Creation (mountaintop destruction); Going Green (environmental action); Food for Faith (urban and rural activists); Ancient Roots (environmental education); Compassion in Action (campaign to save trees); Eco-Justice (industrial contamination); Celebration (land and water); Interfaith Power and Light (global warming).

MAP is an interfaith community of leaders who celebrate their unity and diversity before God, provide mutual support and encouragement to one another, and offer to their own faith communities and the Potsdam community as a whole hope and care expressed in specific acts of compassion and justice, opportunities for service, common witness, and spiritual and intellectual growth.

All are welcome and popcorn and cookies will be available.
