Potsdam Mega Reunion begins Friday with events continuing through the weekend

POTSDAM -- After a year in the making Potsdam Central School's Mega Reunion begins Friday Aug. 10 and continues through the weekend with music, mixers, prizes and more.

Downtown Market Street will be blocked off for a block dance, a 5k race is planned Saturday and a number of mixers and a dinner are also planned.

While some events will require registration to attend, many are also open to the public.

Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. the Potsdam Museum will host a '60s theme reception for all registered attendees. Donations will be accepted. Here, those participating in the closed events will be able to pick up their wristbands, which are required for entry to some of the weekend’s events.

The PCS Booster Club will also be at this location selling ‘Official’ Mega Reunion Merchandise, as well as their regular Sandstoner items. All proceeds of these sales will benefit the PCS Booster Club.

The Kiwanis Club will be on hand for registration into Saturday’s 5K Walk, Run, Jog, Crawl, Meander or Skip. Admission for the event will be $5. Proceeds will benefit the PCS Key Club.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. class mixers will be held at area bars and restaurants.

• Classes of 1937 - 1956, 1958 – 1964 at The Lobster House (formerly The Sunset Lodge), in the private banquet room.

• Class of 1957 at the Potsdam Town & Country Club

• Faculty at the First Crush Wine

• Classes of 1965 – 1969 at theWindy Point Grill (also known as Scoopuccino's)

• Classes of 1970 – 1973 at Maxfield's

• Classes of 1974 – 1977 at Mama Lucia’s

• Classes of 1978 – 1982 at the Cactus Grill and Cantina

• Classes of 1983 – 1989 at the Elks Club

• Classes of 1990 - 2012 at Ton's Sports Bar

At 6:30 p.m. the Main Stage Music and Block Dance will provide an evening of entertainment. Market Street will be closed from the corners of Market and Main Streets to Market and Elm Streets. Vendors will provide concessions while sidewalk sales line the streets. This event is open to the public.

At 9 p.m. jam sessions will be held at Maxfields and Ton’s Sports Bar.

Events continue Saturday at 9 a.m. with a 5K walk/run event.

At 11:30 the Elks Club’s Famous Chicken Barbeque begins and continues until it is sold out.

Photos will be taken from 1 to 2 p.m. at the football bleachers behind the high school on Leroy Street.

Hankfest will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at Ives Park featuring a musical tribute to Hank Williams, Jr.

Following Hankfest events will move to SUNY Potsdam's Student Union for reunion members only.

Sunday reunion members will enjoy a farewell brunch at Potsdam Central School.

On Sunday a brunch and tour will be held at Potsdam Central School for reunion members with white wristbands.
