The Lions White Cane Days Fundraiser is an effort to educate and raise awareness with the public about several services which support the blind and sight impaired.
The organizations that will receive donations from the Lions, are:
• Lions Eye Institute, research of blinding diseases and transplants;
• Sight Society of North Eastern NY and Lions Eye Bank at Albany, eye donations and cornea transplants;
• Leader Dogs for the Blind, raising and training guide dogs;
• North Country Association for the Visually Impaired, Plattsburgh;
• Lions Camp Badger, Spencer, for special needs children with disabilities and sight impairment; and
• Potsdam Lions Youth Vision Screening and Eye, exam/eye glasses assistance.
The Potsdam Lions hope to raise more than $1,500 over the four days of the collection effort.
