Potsdam library computer center offering upcoming tech classes

POTSDAM – The Potsdam Public Library’s Cleveland Computer Center, located in the library basement, is hosting a series of technology classes in the coming weeks.

Excel Basics will be offered Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m.-noon.

An open lab will be held Monday, March 26, from 3-4:30 p.m. Those interested do not need to register. Smartphones, tablets, MS Office programs, email, Google apps, internet use, skype, more will be covered and individualized help will be available.

Google Sheets will be taught Tuesday, March 27, from 10-11:30 a.m. Students will explore the various formatting tools necessary to create a basic spreadsheet using this free Google app. Topics to be discussed include setting up a spreadsheet, using basic formulas, and printing the document.

Crowdfunding will be covered Wednesday, March 28, from 6-7:30 p.m. Students will learn how to appeal to the entire community for help raising money to support a community organization or for a special project. The instructor will explain the use of Kickstarter, Go Fund Me, and other similar sites, touching on some of the benefits and downfalls of the programs.

Musicians will want to attend the class covering Anvil Studio scheduled for Friday, March 30 from 9:30-11 a.m. Students will learn to use this free musical composition program to create music, layer tracks and other techniques.

Introduction to Microsoft Word will be held Saturday, Mar 31, from 10 a.m.-noon. Basic word processing tools: font, color, size, margins, and shortcuts for type formatting will be covered.
