POTSDAM -- Community Performance Series will kick off the 2016-17 season with a Guest Artist Series performance by Patti LuPone in Crane School of Music's Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
The season will present an array of artistry and genres, including Broadway classics, folk, post-modern classical, percussion, jazz and family theatre.
In a performance titled "Don't Monkey with Broadway," The award-winning vocalist LuPone will explore classic show tunes by the likes of Richard Rodgers, Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. The performance will include a special guest appearance by the Crane Concert Choir.
American folk legend Arlo Guthrie will bring his expressive storytelling to the Hosmer stage on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
The post-modern, indie-classical string quartet ETHEL will perform pieces from their "Blue Dress" program on Friday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Hall.
The 33rd McElheran Visiting Artist, percussion group NEXUS, will perform on Friday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Helen Hall.
National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master and Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis and his group, Branford Marsalis Quartet, will perform on Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m.
The CPS Meet the Arts Series, which features educational and family-friendly theatre, will include "Let's Talk ABout IT!" at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 in the Performing Arts Center, and "A Year with Frog & Toad" at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Sara M. Snell Music Theatre.
Meet the Arts Series tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.
