Potsdam Ives Park concert on Sept. 10 moves to rain location at United Methodist Church

POTSDAM -- The Ives Park Concert Series continues Saturday, Sept. 10, with Caramelo Trio at 7 p.m. and Uprooted at 8:15 p.m.

The show will be held at the United Methodist Chyrch, 26 Main St. This is the grey church across from the park on the corner of Union Street.

Caramelo Trio creates an exciting blend of lyrical melody and rhythmic motion inspired by the rich traditions of Latin American musical styles such as rumba, bossa nova, waltzes and more. Potsdam-based musicians Beth Robinson (cello), Oscar Sarmiento (guitar), and Steve Farina (percussion), were members of the long-running North Country ensemble Piquant, which played for over a decade on concert stages from Sacket’s Harbor to Saranac Lake to the Norwood Summer Concert Series. Over the past few years Caramelo Trio has been featured on North Country Public Radio’s 8 O’clock Hour, performed in both the Saranac Lake Summer Concert Series and the Brockport Summer Concert Series, in addition to several local performances.

Uprooted is a Canton-based music group made up of four women, Camilla Ammirati, CJ Jahncke, Rosemary Phillips, and Lenore Vanderzee. Their music has Americana roots and branches including flavors of folk, rock, old time and bluegrass. They all sing in harmony and throw in some combination of guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass going at any given time. Uprooted performs in Canton locations such as Blackbird Cafe and TAUNY.

The rest of the schedule is as follows: Sept. 17, 3 p.m., Animal Crackers; Sept. 17, 7 p.m., Double Axel; Sept. 24, 7 p.m., lineup of local songwriters; Oct. 1, 7 p.m., Phil Hurley.
